Being around anyone whose process is to judge others really is intimidating. Temper uncontrolled causes me to find distance - fast. Dishonesty is a giant red flag for any long-term relationship. The ability to maintain adult discourse without bringing up every unfortunate occurance from the past is also quite important. I know it as 'sandbagging' - a litany of error you've apologized for and that you'd rather forget. No relationship can flourish if this is utilized.

My funniest life experience:

While traveling in a travel trailer at Yosemite National Park with my sister, we were trying to fold up camp. This involved taking down a tent outside that housed our gear. When I went outside, a large white goose (that had been protecting a little white duck the entire time we were there) challenged me. There was really no way for me to do what needed to be done. Finally in exasperation I came inside the trailer, located the Mace, and came outside and blasted him. Well, he'd have none of that! He came flying at me so fast it was all I could do to get back inside the trailer and close the door before he nailed me. My sister was at the far end of the trailer in the bathroom doing her hair. She heard my sputtering about being unable to complete the job and about that razzle-frazzle #%! goose. Grabbing the little broom from the closet she said, "Let me at him!" With that she started whacking away. Needless to say he high-tailed it into the bushes. But when she went back to finish doing her hair, the Mace had fluttered silently through the open skylight and nearly caused her to choke to death. This may be one of those "You had to be there" moments, but it still cracks us up when we talk about it.

When I feel that the other person is being totally honest, both with me and with themself, I can be open and comfortable. Acceptance on both sides for me is what makes a relationship work well. I enjoy a man who is somewhat attentive and flirtatious. It makes even work fun!

Oh yes, I've compromised. Isn't that what makes relationships work?
I am a widow. Many years ago late hubby and I were in a plane crash and he was paralyzed. He lived for 10 years in a wheelchair, compromise was the only way we survived, although I have no doubt his idea of compromise was much more bleak than was mine. But for us that's what 'for better or for worse' was about.

I'm not in any relationship. My friendship is with my sister, who is the reason I moved from California to Birmingham seven years ago. She will always be part of my 'connection'. But I would also like a male friendship for the long term. Somehow I'd like to go off into the sunset with a special friend/partner.

Spending time together can either be fine dining, a picnic, or an evening in with great food, wine, and a movie. I'm easily entertained. It's really more about conversation and electricity between two people.

I can't imagine anything on my wish list that I haven't already done. I've traveled cross country with a 'rig', traveled to Europe, flown around the US. I really have no need to bungee jump or jump from a plane. Something I've always thought would be fun would be to cruise around Hawaii - island hopping. Also a Mediterranean cruise would be wonderful with the right person. It's a very romantic spot.
