The process of going through a separation is devastating to a couple/family. Although I was the one who initiated the separation, I was willing to make the decisions on his terms to ensure he would transition through it as easily as possible. We amicably divided the house contents and worked through all the details together, talking it through so we were both satisfied.

After 23 years of marriage, it is scary to begin the process of starting a new relationship. I cannot see myself being alone for the rest of my life either. I know there is someone out there that I can bond with and corney as it may sound, could become my soulmate. I will not find them sitting at home or going to work. I need to actively begin the process which will be a long one as I need to take things very slow. As I have young adult kids, I need to ensure a new partner will be accepting of my entire family and them of him. We all need to click in order for it to work. If friendships develop and nothing more, then I am one step ahead of where I am today. Friendships are very important in life too.
