Compromise is win/lose. When people disagree on something, it is usually many 'needs' glued together with 'wants.' If both people can communicate properly, then the needs can come out into the open. There is always a solution to fulfilling both people's needs. Knowing this (and having had much experience) I am not willing to compromise, but rather finding a solution that both people can get what they need.
'Wants,' on the other hand, must sometimes be sacrificed for another person's needs. This isn't compromise, its being flexible and respectible.

Uhm. I'm starting everything fresh right now.new job, new living situation, [happily] single for the first time in 10 years (meaning: self-reliant). Everything is starting fresh, and it feels great!
