Some have been much too self-centered and therefore don't really have room in their lives for anyone else. Some were what I guess I would call "one-trick ponies, interested in only one thing, for instance sports or movies, and not willing to try anything else. I, on the other hand, have varied interests and like to do many different things. Others seemed to lack the intelligence to carry on a decent conversation.

The person I am looking for first and foremost must treasure honesty for without that there is no relationship at all. Then comes intelligence as I do like someone with a brain and a sense of humor as life is not worth living without a little laughter now and then. They must like closeness as I do like to touch, hug and kiss the person I am with. And, last but not least, they must like small children and dogs as my grandsons and dog are a big part of my life.

My funniest life experience:

I think the funniest experiences have come as role reversals when I started dating again after my husband died.
The first was when my younger son, who was about 30 at the time, sat himself down in my family room and proceeded to inform me of the dangers of present-day dating. He was so serious about his lecture that I really had to keep myself from laughing.
The second was when my mom was staying at my house for a few days and I went out on a date where I met the person somewhere. I got home about 2am and there was my mom, sitting on my sofa with the dog on her lap waiting up for me to get home. When I asked why she hadn't gone to bed her reply was "You went out with some strange man and I didn't know where you went. I was getting worried" I told her she should have called my cell phone but she said she didn't want to bother me. I guess things never change once you're a mother.

Someone who is intelligent with an outgoing personality and good sense of humor makes it easy for me to be myself. I say that because if the other person is shy and introverted I find conversation doesn't flow and is strained.

I am very willing to meet new people. I have met several men from internet dating sites but not the one I would like to spend the rest of my life with yet. In some cases we have each gone our separate ways and some have become good friends.

My typical day:

A day in Searching103's life can vary considerably from day to day and even minute to minute. One constant in my morning routine is my cup or cups of coffee. While drinking my coffee I may read something that came in the mail the day before or make some phone calls. Then it's off to the shower and getting dressed unless it's a day I go to the gym in which case I shower after my workout. Then it could be meeting a friend for lunch, shopping for clothes, food or other necessities, visiting my mom who is 82 years old, doing some classwork for my continuing ed insurance classes, a planned or unplanned visit from my grandchildren (all else gets put aside for this), or maybe just a relaxing afternoon sitting outside with a book. The evening could bring dinner or drinks either with a date or friends, babysitting my grandchildren, a concert, a show, a movie or just a quiet evening at home with my dog and my tv.

I would like to do a lot more traveling in the future. I have seen a lot of this country, the Caribbean and Mexico but have not made it to Europe yet. Planned to do that when my husband retired but he died before he got to retire. I still would love to see many of the European countries and hope to do so in the near future.
