I am an outgoing person which is a complete 180 degree turn from the way I used to be. When I was younger I found it extremely difficult to initiate conversations with anyonecall it insecurity. Now that I am a "respected senior citizen" I have few qualms about talking to people, drawing them out in conversation.

I accept people as they are and anything divulged to me is shared in confidence with the understanding that it is never to be revealed. So anything that "bothers" me is never to be told to anyone else. It is an issue of trust which I will never violate. So with this as a value, I cannot answer that question.

I appreciate someone who has a healthy concept of themselves, who can express their opinion, values their own freedom and refuses to compromise what makes them special to themselves. Someone who is not afraid to tell me when they think I am wrong. Relationships are of course based upon give and take but if either one of us gives up our sense of self to please the other, then the relationship is in deep trouble.

My funniest life experience:

Many years ago I was a substitute teacher for the Portland Public Schools. One day I had an assignment at a grade school in S.E. Portland. As it happens there was a traveling circus setting up at one of the shopping malls in the area. One of the camels escaped and when I arrived, it was standing in the grassy area in front of the school quietly having a meal just as the students were arriving. The students were very excited to see the camel and some even thought that the school had arranged it just for them.

Nothing too complicated here. If the person I was meeting smiled, made eye contact,an occasional touch on the arm when my attention wandered to bring me back to the conversation would help me feel at ease. I would do the same also and hold up my end of the conversation, inquiring about you and your life,your interests and of of course avoiding subjects as past relationships.

Yes. When I was married my wife and I disagreed about how her children should be raised especially when they entered their teen years and were getting into trouble with the school and legal authorities. More than that I cannot say as ir would be a violation of the trust my ex-wife has placed in me. I hope you understand.

I am willing to meet people through the internet. This is the year for me to give myself over to a serious relationship and I have dedicated myself to being in the path of opportunity. I have meet several fascinating, charming, dynamic women through the internet, but so far no lasting magic or chemistry.

My marriage is behind me. I have dealt with the sadness, the pain that comes from the end of what promised to be a lifelong relationship and have moved on. I have been dating and as I said have meet several fascinating women but no chemistry. I am friends with one woman who I dated for a couple of months, but she is a long way from a commited relationshiop but we communicate through the internet only. I will probably always be her friend and confidant. If that is a problem then I am not the right man for you and you should continue your search.

After the initial get acquainted meeting, and we realized that we had enough in common to agree upon a first date, there are several possibilities. We could meet a quiet restaurant for a meal, a glass of wine and conversation. We could pack a picnic lunch and go to a scenic park and get to know each other better. Or(and this one would require a great deal of trust) we could meet at my place or yours and prepare a meal together.

My Wish List Includes:

I love to be out of doors especially hiking, day trips to the Columbia Gorge or the Coast , checking out some of the natural hot springs in Oregon (Bagby and Breitenbush come to mind). Also the Forest Service rents out lookout towers in the Mount Hood National Forest complete with cooking and sleeping facilities and marvelous views, so that is something I would like to try.
