My 'Otherself'. Either you are now within me, or I am within you, or in other words, you are in my 'Prospective White City'. In this concept of the Prospective White City, the 'I-self' stands for 'me'; and the 'other-self' stands for 'my ideal woman'. And what I say about the 'I-self' would likewise apply to the 'other-self', being considered as one unique, and vice versa. Sometimes I imagine the other-self as an enchanted far-off land from which I was exiled with no chance of ever returning to it; and sometimes I imagine her as an everlasting distance that I must go with no chance of ever approaching her. I believe all of who I am is the 'other-self' or in fact 'you' that I am looking for here or somewhere else; and I believe all of who you are is the 'I-self' or in fact 'me' that you are looking for here or somewhere else. So do you think you may be the centre of my concept of love and marriage, which may also be yours and of which I believe I am also the centre? This is what I am trying to figure out here. That’s still a bit of me, of who I am. Only real marriage is what I want and is why I am here, hopefully for just a while. Now, like I’ve never married before, I’m looking forward to meeting the right partner who believes in and is looking for the same. Before I relocate to the US, I used to, and believe I’ll still, teach English, and I was always busy with doing my school classes in the mornings and with doing my own private classes in the evenings that often kept me out of home until very late, as it is always the case with all English language teachers in Sudan, for the sake of earning my living to meet my needs and responsibilities. Despite this, I was still trying to find some time space to practise creative writing in both languages, English and mainly Arabic, my mother tongue, the best of what I usually do in my free time; and in this respect, I’ve published in my ‘The Prospective White City’ in which I’ve discussed the problems that make it difficult for the young in Sudan and almost all Muslim countries, to get married; and I have created an ideal conception of an ideal society whose membership is conditioned to having a marriage relationship, either existing or potential, all on the base of this concept. A few number of enthusiastic young men and women registered as members to form a ground to the concept, but for not long due to many reasons to mention later. My of writing tends to be very conceptual, philosophical, imaginary and complicated to be understood, as the others would describe it. All of my writings are stimulated from listening to romantic music and soft songs, all types but mostly the Western, usually by the River Nile bank, watching the sun going down beyond the earth or far away somewhere at midnight, attentively observing the stars and the moon glittering brightly and lending the earthy world soft touches of romantic beauty and tenderness.
