Hi, I'm a laid-back, professor looking for a very sharp lady who's dedicated to God (born again), but not straight-jacketed in religion. My career is decidedly creative in literature (teaching it), writing plays, in the midst of writing a novel, creating poetry, drawing portraits; I also rescue animals.
I love old torch-and-blues if it's sung right, and (I know, it's a bad confession) classic rock gets my blood a-flowin' (ZZ Topp, Stevie Ray Vaughn, etc.). I've got a super-quick sense of humor (sometimes bewilderinglyI tend to talk in double entendres and puns without meaning to). I probably over-analyze things (and thus use too many parentheses).
Things that have bothered me:
The biggest and usually only problem has been arrogance/pride.
I am looking for:
Beauty is great; sexiness, better; but first and foremost, I'm looking for a kind heart, someone loving and tender. God, on a born-again basis, has guided my life down some wild and woolly rabbit-holes, often bewildering me as I just hang on to His guidance and finally appreciate the view/reason way on down the road. Because of this, I have taken some big gambles that, apart from Him, I never would have dared. Thus, I'm looking for a true lady with, like me, a wild streak, someone who knows intimacy with God, apart from some teacher/preacher pounding petrified dogma which tries to cram God into a pigeon hole (He bursts outusually with an incredibly weird turn of humor).
My funniest life experience:
Years ago, before I became a professor, I was working construction with the boss's nephew, a real jerk. He had pushed me to the point that I couldn't stand it. I prayed, telling God basically that as a born-again believer I knew I had no right to retaliate, but that I was with a vengeance and I just wanted to let Him know, if He wanted to do anything, but I hoped He wouldn't. The next day, the jerk/nephew was working on a site with a circular saw (electric). I heard screaming, came running around the corner, and found he had disengaged the blade guard and then later had absent-mindedly rested the saw (while still running) on his thigh. I was the only one there with a car to drive him to the emergency room. So, God engineered the situation so that I not only couldn't get revenge, but I also ended up having to help the guy. (He survived with a minor wound.)

I tend to put people at ease, asking questions about their concerns; those who put me at ease tend to be very intelligent and creative, without being snobs.

Good grief, I teach collegiate writing and literary analysis; students today are so underprepared in high school that by the time I inherit them, I have to grade strictly but in the end help their grades out.

I have a fantasy of opening up a local theatre out in the countrymaybe in a converted barn or something. My background in theatre, writing, artwork, acting, and directing would stand me in good stead. Though the theatre might be out of the way, I can envision productions so critically superior that folks would travel quite a distance to see the performances.
